AboutDear Friend, We’ve dreamed, collected, pleated, and pasted in order to provide you with a canvas on which to creatively make your mark. Whether you’re sending a note in the spirit of congratulations, love, friendship or sympathy, you’ll find Paper Confections to be the perfect stationery for expressing your sentiments. Paper Confections® notes, cards, and invites, are created from the original paper quilted artwork of Rebecca Schreiber and the botanical collage of Ann Hritz. We are proudly an eco-friendly company printing our one-of-a-kind designs on richly textured 100% cotton stationery made by Crane and Co.® in the Berkshire Hills of Massachusetts. Our stationery comes to you, tucked into the folds of a pristine 100% cotton envelope just waiting to be dabbed with ink and sent on a journey. We all have someone we’d like to reach and stories we’d like to share and that can start with the simple phrase, “Dear Friend”, at the top of a lovely handwritten note. I hope as you wander through our paper confectionary shop that our designs inspire you to pick-up pen and paper and write that lovely note to someone for whom you especially care, and that our designs bring as much joy to you as they have brought to us over the years. With my very best wishes, Artist Biographies Rebecca Schreiber Rebecca Schreiber is a self-taught artist who creates her designs using the technique of paper quilting. Her paper quilted designs are created by placing folded strips of Japanese papers within an original papercut. She comes to the field of design after a twenty-year career in the neurosciences. For Rebecca, there is an “art to science” and “a science to her art”. Many of her designs are inspired by early silhouette art, American Folk art and decorative colonial design. Add to that mix, a love of the Berkshire Hills of Massachusetts, a nature-loving husband and two adventuresome sons with a deep and earthy passion for small critters, and you will find her inspiration for all things related to nature. She creates her work in a 1700’s colonial in New England with her shorthaired pointer, “Sunday”, at her feet. Ann Hritz Paper Confections Design is also proud to represent the artwork of Ann Hritz. Ann has crafted folk art for over 30 years using various media and techniques, including clay, needlework, felting, folk art painting, and shell work. In addition, she has created handmade cards for over 20 years employing the technique of botanical collage. She creates her collages with botanicals she collects, carefully preserves and then arranges with striking papers and special treasures found near her New England home. Seashells, lobster tentacles, feathers, and even a bumble bee, are a just few examples of the “found gifts” incorporated into her collages. Her designs are greatly influenced by the changing New England seasons and its flora and fauna. Each image preserves precious, evanescent gifts of nature which would otherwise be lost. Ann views each piece as a miniature memory box meant to recall times past and adventures enjoyed with family and friend. |
