PressRebecca Schreiber, Second Place Winner, 2009 Spring Awards Show, Weston Arts and Crafts Association “Colonial Pheasant”, Medium: Chiyogami: original paper quilted artwork by Rebecca Schreiber, by commission only. Read more about it Here. Judge Robert Rosenfield comments: A very interesting, and creative technique. The intricate, detailed design of the chiyogami paper is contrasted beautifully with the simple and graceful shape of the pheasant which is cut out and laid on top. What really makes this a special piece is the complexity of the myriad of folds in the paper which simulate the feathers on the bird and give the piece a textural and three-dimensional quality. Also notable is the effort put in the display of the piece. The shadow box with silk lining is not only aesthetically pleasing but also incorporates a Japanese element from which the art form is derived.
